A short review of CSCGI

CSCGI links web pages to external programs on a local system without an Internet connection or remote web server:


CSCGI connects HTML pages and forms to Javascript and Java programs, and also to external programs via a Netscape plugin:


Initial use of CSCGI was a PDS CD-ROM image browser, using C programs to search and extract data, and Java applets to display results:


The end result was image and text info on Voyager (e.g.) missions:


A new CSCGI interface standardized use on Mac, Windows, and Linux systems:


A new version of the PDS browser created JPEG images directly, instead of using Java applets for display:
